What to Pack for Your Family Resort Vacation!
Hey guys, Gabby here!
Family resort vacations. We’ve all been on one or are planning to go on one. You’re all happy, thinking about where you’re going, what you’re going to do there, until… it’s time to pack. Now, there are two types of people when it comes to packing. People who love packing meaning they’re excited to do it, and people who don’t– meaning they think packing is a big pain.
I honestly am a bit of both. I can’t wait to pack to go as soon as I can but, it’s also hard for me to choose what clothes and things I need to bring. In October, I went to Memories Splash Punta Cana with Sunwing and I thought, why not share a few tips? That’s what I’m going to be talking about today! So without further ado, lets’ get started!
1. Day Bag.
My mom always does this. For our carry-ons or personal items on the plane, we pack an outfit, a bathing suit, hat, sunglasses, flip-flops and a travel-sized sunscreen. That way, if there are any delays when you get to your hotel or getting your bags at the airport–you can easily change and hit the pool or beach while you wait. You’ll also have an extra outfit until you get your bags and/or room. The fun can start right away!
Ah, sunscreen. I’d say that sunscreen is one of the most important things to bring during a vacation. You definitely don’t want to get sun-burned! If you are checking a bag, you can pack a couple full-sized ones. Believe me, with a family of 4, you can go through 2 full-sized ones easily. But, if you choose to just bring a carry-on, you will be stuck with a very small travel-sized one. You can always choose to buy it at the resort but, they can be a bit pricey!
3. Cool Clothes.
Obviously you need clothes. A lot depending on how long you are staying. Usually when you go on vacations it’s somewhere warm. So pack clothes that will keep cool. Try to pack comfy shoes as well for when you’re walking around the resort or going on an excursion. We pack water shoes too, that way your feet have a bit of protection.
Bring some sun dresses for dinner. Cool and comfy but, stylish too. Boys and men should pack shirts with sleeves. Some resorts have a dress code and you may not be allowed in with beach wear. So, light shirts with sleeves and dress shorts is good!
4. Bathing Suits.
You’re probably thinking: “That’s pretty obvious.” Well I have a quick and easy hack that you can use that I do whenever I go on a vacation. All you need to do is pack two or more bathing suits. Why? Well when one is wet and is drying, you already have another one dry and ready to go! I usually pack about 4 but, 2 can be good for you!
5. Sunglasses and Hats.
This one is pretty straight forward but it’s definitely important. Sunglasses and hats are essential when going on a vacation. They protect you from the sun strong UV rays. Which is what you want when there’s a lot of sun. Plus, when you have protection, that means more time at the beach or in the pool!
I think packing a camera is also an essential when it comes to vacays because I think it’s important to capture every moment you create. While spending time together with your family rocks, it’s great to look back on those memories when you get home. Another hack is: try to get a water-proof camera. The footage you get is amaze! It’s a whole ‘nother world down there guys!
7. Beach Toys.
These aren’t essential but, if you have favorite beach toys that you want to bring. Pack them into your checked bag! You’ll be ready to have water fun! Sometimes you get a beach ball on the plane, like Sunwing gives you a cool kids pack with activities and a beach ball! So cool!
8. First Aid and Meds.
My parents always pack the essentials. Like a small first aid kit for minor cuts and scrapes and medications for nausea, upset stomach etc. Pain medication, allergy medicine and aloe vera are good to bring too!
So those are all the things you can keep in mind when packing for a family vacation. I hope these tips and hacks helped!
What do you bring on a vacation?
